What Do I Do If I Am Served With Divorce Papers?

When you are served with divorce papers, it is important to get sound legal advice so that you know what your options are and how you should proceed.  If it is determined that you are in agreement with the issues stated in the papers, then you may not need to respond and you may simply sign the proof of service.  However, if it is determined that the issues stated are not in your best interest, then a response would need to be made within 30 days.  After a response is filed, you or your spouse can request a trial date.
