1. Give and take. In a relationship, there are times that our needs must be met, but there are also times when we need to sacrifice for the sake of our partner. It is important to keep this in balance for your relationship to stay strong.
2. Dating. Dating is not just for single people. In a relationship, you must keep a marriage fun. It is important to go out on dates and have couple-only time, especially when you have children. Dating doesn’t have to mean going out to a nice restaurant, it can just be doing something enjoyable with your partner,
3. Love is given. In a relationship, it is important for you and your partner to demonstrate your love for each other. Love must be given in a way that it can be received. Most of the time, the little things can make all the difference. We all like to know that we are loved.
4. Trust is earned. Without trust there can be no intimacy in a relationship. Trust is not like love, it is not given it can only be earned. We earn our partners trust by following through on our commitments and consistently behaving in a way that is good for our relationship.
5. Visualization. The way you think about your partner and your future together will impact the way you feel and behave toward each other. Negative images must be replaced with positive thinking.
6. Make your needs known. Do not just complain about things, change those complaints into requests, this can show your partner what you need. Requests risk rejection, but complaints can guarantee it.
7. Communicate honestly. A lack of honest communication can indicate a lack of trust or insecurity. When being honest in your relationship, it means that you can have a freedom to express ideas that your partner does not like and does not have to like.
8. Try to be Agreeable. Instead of constantly disagreeing with your partner, try to find the things you do agree on and focus on those. Frequent agreement will make disagreements more tolerable.
9. Go the extra step. Just even a little bit extra that we do for any thing in our lives can make all the difference. IN a relationship just doing little extra things can help you maintain your relationship. Always think about what you can add to anything to make it special.
10. Make a relationship plan. Living your life without any goals or plans can make it very dull and boring. When you and your partner are working on goals together, you can share something that the rest of the world does not have, which makes it special to you.
It is always easier to work on your relationship before problems occur. Every relationship is going to have problems, but you must do what it takes and work together to have a good long-term relationship. The problems that you face and conquer can actually make your relationship stronger.
