I'm glad that I found the Legal Action Workshop. I had some drama to get here. I first signed up with a small office of a paralegal. My case is uncontested and simple. I thought there is no need for a lawyer. I paid $250 and she identified and filled out the forms for me. The coordination to get both of our signatures took some time and I went back to her office around 6 months later, but the office was no longer there- there as a new restaurant. Her website is still there, but phone is disconnected. I emailed her - no replay, I sent an email from her website- no reply. And I found out that she gave me a wrong form!!

OK, things happen. So plan B. I went to the CA gov website, studied the documents and went asking for Self-help at the court house. I called the office between 8-9am to make an appointment as the website suggests. They said it's only first come first serve. OK. So I went to the office during my lunch time, waited for one hour and they told me that family law cases are only in the morning. Why didn't they tell me that over the phone? But it's ok. It's free. It doesn't have to be perfect. So I went back next morning. I woke up early, waited for another hour, and they said on the first day, they could only give me a set of forms and to come back when they are filled out. Why couldn't she give me the forms yesterday? It only took 2 minutes! So I filled out the forms on the location, and it was still 9:45am. Put myself on the list, waited some, and she told me that there are 3people waiting before -" and it is likely my turn will not come by 12pm. At this point, I said ok enough. I tried enough' I have to provide myself somebody professional.
