When Do I Need a Guardianship?

A Guardianship is needed when a person, other than a parent, wants to take care of and house a minor (under the age of 18) for a variety of reasons. One reason could be that the parents do not wish to or cannot take care of their child and want another, usually a family member to take over. This may also be needed when a minor inherits money or property which is called a Guardianship over the estate.
