I have filed for divorce already and I need spousal & child support now--what do I do?
Your first step is to speak with the Attorney about your particular situation. You could file an OSC (Order to Show Cause) to get orders for temporary support while the Divorce is in progress. The same rules apply for Spousal Support or Child Support throughout California. We have offices in Los Angeles County and we can handle Support issues from our offices or in any county in California. The courts will address both spousal support and child support in the final judgment and temporary orders that are made by way of the Order to Show Cause are usually made permanent at that time.
With regard to spousal support, there are a number of factors which determine the amount of spousal support and who would pay. This is based on the number of years married, the income of both partners as well as need and other factors.
Child support is also based on a number of factors and lawyers as well as judges use a formula based on the Dissomaster software to calculate the amount.
The Legal Action Workshop Attorney can ask the appropriate questions and give you a clear idea of what the child support & spousal support payments would be and who would pay. Our Attorneys can also give you an idea as to when these payments would begin. Please call us at 888-LGL-ACTN (888-545-2286) to make a time to speak with the Attorney. By doing this you will understand your legal rights and options.
