Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How does the 'Attorney-Assisted' Method Work?

At Legal Action Workshop, (L.A.W.) you can choose the level of service that best meets your individual legal needs and your budget. Our attorneys offer high-quality legal services using the following structure:

  • Limited Scope or Attorney-Assisted Method These terms refer to an attorney who contracts with a client to provide partial services in a legal matter in which a client represents himself or herself.  It could be described as 'law a la carte', where the 'full meal' or 'full representation' is not the only option.  By using our attorney-assisted method, we give you legal advice and do all of the required legal paperwork and filing for you and your name appears on the paperwork as attorney of record.  This is essentially 'in pro per' but with attorney guidance and paperwork.  We do this for a flat fee.  By using our limited scope method, our attorney could represent you for a particular portion of a legal matter, usually a court appearance (and/or other areas of representation) for a flat fee.
  • Full Representation If your situation is more complex, one of our attorneys can be fully involved in representing you and advocating on your behalf.
  • Document Preparation A Legal Action Workshop attorney will prepare the appropriate legal documents for you in areas such as family law, name change, estate planning, wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, as well as  transfer deeds at a low flat fee.

At Legal Action Workshop we are able to offer clients this cost-effective method of attorney-assisted services, also referred to as Unbundled Legal Services.

What are unbundled legal services?
Legal Action Workshop offers unbundled legal services.  This means that the attorney contracts with the client to do a specific portion of a legal matter.  In this way, the client is responsible for representing himself or herself, and the attorney does only that portion for which he has contracted.  In addition, 'limited scope' applies to an attorney who does partial services for a client such as appearing in court on a particular date, for a flat fee.  Please contact Legal Action Workshop with any questions you may have about unbundled legal services.

Will I ever have to go before a jury if I choose the Attorney-Assisted Method?
No, you would only have to go before a jury in a civil or criminal matter, not in a Family Law matter or Bankruptcy matter.

For a Divorce or Legal Separation do I need to go to court?
If you do not have any issues to resolve, you do not need to go to court.  If you do have issues and cannot resolve them by way of a Marital Settlement Agreement, then you will need to go to court.
