What if My Spouse Refuses to Let Me See My Child?

You have a right to see your child and a right to make legal agreements as to when to see the child.  Some of the issues involved with seeing or visiting your child are custody and visitation.  Custody involves physical custody and legal custody—physical meaning where the child lives; legal custody involves making decisions regarding schooling and health care.  When you file for divorce, you may then file an Order to Show Cause to address the custody and visitation issues.  These decisions do impact support issues and should be decided with the help of an attorney who can advise you as to your rights and what is reasonable in your situation.  Once a court order is completed, you can then follow the order and expect that your spouse will follow it as well.
