Protect Your Legal Rights

It is easy to ‘protect your legal rights‘ in the California courts.  This just means that you speak with an experienced Attorney when you are served with a legal document or summoned to court on an issue (such as a Restraining Order), or when circumstances warrant a consultation with an Estate Planning Attorney.  Your legal matter may be related to Divorce or Family Law, Civil, Criminal, Bankruptcy, Estate Planning, Personal Injury or some other area of law.

The term ‘knowledge is power’ is very true in the legal world. Unfortunately so many people either act, react or fail to act without legal advice and as a result their rights are compromised.  They may lose money, time or legal rights.

In short, the best way to protect your legal rights is to consult with an experienced Lawyer so you understand your legal options and can make an informed decision.

We often see people who have failed to respond within the 30 day period when served with Divorce, Annulment or Legal Separation.  When this occurs, a default may be entered by the petitioner which could result in a loss of legal rights and be very costly to ‘set aside‘.

In addition, people often do not appear when summoned to court on an ‘ex parte’ or emergency hearing because they don’t think they have to appear.  This may result in a change in custody or worse.  If you are summoned to court on short notice, you should try to appear or have an attorney present to protect your legal rights.

Further, failure to have Estate Planning documents in order could be costly.  If you own property in California and do not have a Trust, a death could result in Probate for heirs which is costly and time-consuming.  Likewise, if a person becomes incapacitated and does not have a Power of Attorney, a conservatorship may have to be filed which, again, is costly and time-consuming.

It’s much easier & more affordable to consult with an Attorney when legal matters arise.  A consultation with an experienced Lawyer will protect your legal rights and give you the legal knowledge you need to make informed decisions.
